A4 Art Call for Entries

960x100_fill_banner_00Each year this exhibition has grown and proven to be popular with the public, with high visitor numbers over the exhibition duration and many sales.

What is A4 Art Australia?

A4 Art Australia is an exhibition held in March of A4-sized artworks, hence the title. This exhibition showcases A4-sized artworks by both established and emerging contemporary artists and offers all participating artists the opportunity gain exposure for their art at low entry cost. By having a theme of A4 sized artworks, artists from all over Australia have an opportunity to submit works via Australia Post. All 2D artworks will be framed for the exhibition (see conditions) and entry is only $10 per artwork. All exhibited artworks will be photographed and exhibited on the CAS website.

Contemporary artists are invited to submit up to four (4) A4-sized artworks for the exhibition.

Note: Both 2D & 3D works may be submitted.

Petite Miniature Textile Biennial 2016

Call for Entries

Entry Forms now available online or in Gallery.

Australian artists working in textile and fibre are invited to submit artwork for selection to be included in the exhibition Petite miniature textiles to be shown at the Wangaratta Art Gallery from 4 June – 17 July 2016.

Proposal Guidelines are as follows:

  • Entry is $20 (inc GST) per artwork
  • Artists may submit up to 3 works for selection
  • size of work/s STRICTLY must not exceed 30 x 30 x 30cm (including framing and/or display mechanisms) PLEASE NOTE: If selected works at time of installation are found to exceed these measurement the Gallery reserves the right to reject the work.
  • submitted work/s must have been completed in the past 2 years
  • submissions must include: a completed entry form: a brief CV or artist’s biography: jpeg files of the work/s for selection (file name: surname-title of work.jpeg) images must be of completed works, including any framing
  • submissions must be received by 5pm Friday 18 March 2016
  • email submissions WILL be accepted
  • Artists will be notified of their selection by Friday 22nd April 2016
  • Selected works must arrive at the Gallery by Monday 23 May 2016 or by prior arrangement
  • The works may be for sale – Gallery takes 20% Commission
  • Artists are responsible for ALL transport/postage costs including return transport/postage. Return postage MUST come with work or transport MUST be organised before end of exhibition.
  • The Gallery takes no responsibility for the return of artwork

Jewellery Casting at Northcity4

homepagelogo2Jewellery Casting is creative and fun and the results are virtually immediate. In our Jewellery Casting course we teach you very simple skills to carve models in wax which then get transformed into jewellery by the ancient art of lost wax casting – EASY!

Anyone can do this entry level course and produce a range of silver jewellery in five weeks. Included in the course is the opportunity to recycle your unwanted silver jewellery and melt and pour metal into your own carved cuttlefish mold.

Copyright Agency Cultural Fund Grants

Applications close 26 February 2016
 The Copyright Agency Board endeavours to support a mix of writing, publishing and visual arts projects from around Australia.

When considering applications to the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, the Cultural Fund Committee gives priority to those that support innovation in the Australian creative industries to develop local and foreign markets for Australian works and to projects that are not supported by government funding bodies.

Current areas of focus for the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund include projects that will:

  • provide cultural and educational institutions support to give individual artists, authors and publishers opportunities to develop their professional skills and develop new works;
  • place artists, authors and publishers in educational settings and build awareness of their work in this sector;
  • underpin export market development of Australian publishing and visual arts; and
  • provide Australian content with a profile in the increasingly globalised online environment so that Australians can compete effectively on the domestic and international marketplace for creative works.

Cultural fund allocations are made at the discretion of Copyright Agency’s Board, on the recommendation of the Board’s Cultural Fund Committee.

The Cultural Fund does not typically support the following:

  • living expenses
  • business overhead costs
  • capital works
  • general administrative costs
  • book launches;
  • exhibition openings;
  • publishers to publish/market books;
  • production costs for theatre, film and other performances;
  • digitisation of back issues/ catalogues of works;
  • creation or maintenance of a website for a publishing house, author or artist; and development of apps for devices.
Who Can Apply

If you have a project that meets the Cultural Fund’s guidelines, you may apply online to an advertised round of the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund. The application process is run on the Smartygrants platform on behalf of Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund. The Cultural Fund Committee assesses applications and makes recommendations to the Copyright Agency Board. The Board reviews the Cultural Fund Committee recommendations and makes Cultural Fund allocations.

Applicants to the Copyright Agency Individuals Career Fund must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

VICARTS Grant Round Open

Round applications close at 5pm, Wednesday 17 February, for activities commencing after 1 June 2016.
 The VicArts Grants program invests in the creative endeavours and professional practice of Victoria’s artists and smaller arts companies. It provides one-off support for discrete projects and programs that will develop and bring dynamism to Victoria’s arts sector.

The program is open to new ideas, new modes of practice and new approaches to delivery that will build on Victoria’s position as a leader in Australia’s creative arts sector. Applications to the program are encouraged from a wide range of art forms and artistic activities.

VicArts Grants will support projects and programs across one or more of the following areas:

  • Creative Development of new works across visual art, literature, cross-disciplinary practice  and performance (including but not limited to dance, theatre, cabaret, opera and music)
  • Presentation of an original art work or curated program (including but not limited to arts festivals or a series of performances, literary works and exhibitions)
  • Collaborations between Victorian Communities and professional artists.
  • National and International residencies/presentations/touring.

The VicArts Grants program accepts applications from individuals and organisations including arts, non-arts, community and local government (also see General Eligibility).

The primary focus of the proposal must include:

  • Victorian-based individual professional arts practitioners (emerging to established) and/or Victorian-based professional arts ensembles and organisations AND an artistic project/program.
