Moreland is developing its new Arts and Culture Strategy and we want to hear from you.
The Strategy will articulate how Moreland supports, advocates and collaborates with its creative sector – to make sure we set the right priorities and develop strategies that will address those priorities we need your input!
We will have a number of consultation events during 2016 but for now we would like for you to fill in our survey which is only open until 10 April 2016.
The survey asks questions such as
· What do you think Moreland is doing well with its support of creative activities?
· What would you like to see Moreland do differently?
· What do you see as the most critical areas the next Moreland Arts and Culture strategy should focus on?
· How can Council partner with artists or organisations to support artists and cultural programs in Moreland?
This information will be critical for us understanding which areas to focus our attention on as priorities so please take some time to fill in the survey.
What’s that? You want to be part of our amazing festival? Well now is the time to Step Into the Light: registrations have just opened for 2016 and we’re psyched to see what you have in store for us.
We have big plans for this year’s Festival including a brand new category for all of you storytellers, poets and wordsmiths, the expansion of our Family Program at the Fringe Hub, and some other things we’re gonna keep under wraps for just a while longer…
Registrations Now Open
Last year 6,000 artists presented 400 events in 196 venues over 19 days. In other words, we took over Melbourne with celebration, adventure, risk, fun, experimentation and bravery and we’re ready to do it all over again.
Whether you’re an established or emerging artist, queer, straight, trans, young, old, local, interstate, speak English, don’t speak a word of it, it’s time to Step Into the Light and become a part of this year’s Festival.
For all you poets, storytellers, thinkers, philosophers and masters of the spoken word, we’ve also created a brand new category called Words and Ideas.
We’ve also introduced a new registration structure for artists wanting to present 2-4 sessions.
We’re looking for big, bold, beautiful, ugly, strange, spectacular, experimental, innovative, scary, exhilarating, unique, different, diverse. We’re looking for you.
So as you probably noticed, registrations for the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival are now open. And we are here to help, if it all feels a bit daunting – or if you are just after some info on how to make your application super extra amazingly kick ass – then we have just the thing for you… the Get Your Registration On Info Sessions.
There are two sessions to choose from:
6:00pm, Monday 11th April
2pm, Monday 18th April
To make it extra easy both sessions are at

The Events will feature a Melbourne community choir on stage in each performance. Performing alongside the actors, the choirs will sing their own material, as well as new music composed specifically for The Events. We’re looking for a range of committed, enthusiastic and dedicated choirs to perform in The Events between 20 June and 10 July 2016 as part of this courageous production.
