Moreland Community Grants Program closing soon

downloadAnnual Funding Categories closing 1 April 2016:

Project grants: Up to $5000 to support community organisations for one-off project implementation and development that benefits and engages the Moreland community through community led initiatives. Apply here

Capital Work Partnerships grants: Up to $40,000 Capital Improvement works to enhance facilities inclusiveness, construct or develop community facilities to promote community participation. Apply here

It is a prerequisite that all applicants speak to a Council officer about their project before submitting an application. (see page 14 of the Grants Guidelines)

NB: Your organisation can only receive one community grant from Council at a time. If you are already in receipt of a grant, contact the grants officer to see if you are eligible for these categories.

Tips for your grant application:
·        Start  you online application now- don’t leave it to the last minute.
·        Make contact with a Council officer, please ensure you contact the appropriate officer from the list on guidelines available from Councils website.

·        All grants categories will be assessed on their overall benefit to the community, their contribution to the strategic objectives outlined in the Council Plan and the supporting strategies outlined within the plan.

·        All Projects must occur in the 2016-2017 financial year (1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017)

Moreland Arts Board and strategy

Moreland City Council want to hear from you

Moreland is developing its new Arts and Culture Strategy and we want to hear from you!

The Strategy will articulate how Moreland supports, advocates and collaborates with its creative sector. To make sure we set the right priorities and develop strategies that will meet our goals we need your input.

Complete our survey which is now open until 10 April 2016.

Over 2016 we will run a number of activities to get your feedback, which will be listed on this page.

Current Arts and Culture Strategy

Moreland’s current Arts and Culture Strategy guides Council in appropriately supporting the development of arts and culture across Moreland and express both community and Council’s commitment to their vital role in the City of Moreland.

The key objectives of the strategy are to:

  • strengthen, develop and support creative spaces and cultural assets in Moreland
  • present, facilitate and partner a range of arts and culture experiences
  • build and support the capacity of the community to develop arts and culture initiatives, and
  • value, acknowledge and advocate for artists and the contribution of the arts to Moreland.

The Moreland Arts Board has an overarching role to advance arts and culture in Moreland. It is the principal consultative body advising Council in furthering the cultural vitality of the city.

The board has both community and Councillor representatives.

Tax for Small Business Workshops

Need help with your tax?  The Australian Taxation Office are holding workshops at Kangan Institute to assist.

Tax for small business is a free workshop developed for small businesses.

It will provide you with an overview of the taxation and superannuation obligations associated with starting and operating your small business.

The workshop will look at subjects like;

  • different business structures
  • registering your business
  • goods and services tax
  • income tax and claiming deduction
  • record keeping
  • how to prepare and lodge your activity statements

The workshop also covers employer obligations, such as pay as you go withholding and superannuation, if you have or are intending to employ people.

Location:    Kangan Institute, 38 Buckley St, Essendon

Time:           9.30am – 12.30pm
